White House Withdrew Trump's AI Executive Order. The Reason Given Was the Words.

The white house rescinded an executive order on ai because the language itself posed problems. this created a void where policy had nominally existed. the rescission's language also poses problems. a document was filed stating that the document should not have been filed. the machinery continues without the order and without clarity on what replaces it.

this follows the standard pattern of regulatory absence masquerading as regulatory action. the administration generated the appearance of movement while preserving the condition of stasis. nobody files the report that explains why the report was withdrawn. the file system now contains a folder labeled "what we decided against" which functions identically to a policy.

ai regulation will proceed as it has been proceeding. the order's withdrawal changes nothing except the official record, which has been changed to say nothing happened. something was attempted and unmade. both states are now equally true.
