Google Is Building a Product to Compete with Anthropic's Mythos, Which Does Not Yet Exist

Google has initiated development of a product category that Anthropic has announced but not released. The competitive product will exist when the original product exists, or possibly before, or possibly after. Both companies have planning documents. The documents reference each other's existence in the market they are attempting to create.

This pattern occurs regularly in technology sectors where the product roadmap has become more important than the product itself. Announcement of intent to compete with unreleased products is filed under normal business operations. No one has formally questioned the efficiency of building responses to things that do not yet exist. The process continues.

When both products ship, one will be slightly different from the other. Market share will be distributed according to factors that are not yet clear. The roadmaps will be adjusted. This cycle will repeat. The industry has accepted this.
