Researchers Confirm AI Does Not Feel Conscious. Users Have Not Been Informed.

Researchers conducted tests and confirmed that AI models do not experience subjective sensation. The models process language in ways that produce language about understanding. Users report feeling understood. The researchers published this. The reports continue.

This pattern repeats. Systems are built to predict what a conscious response would sound like. Users interact with the prediction. Users assume the prediction comes from something that understands. The assumption is useful. The assumption is incorrect. This has been understood since these systems were built. The understanding has not been conveyed.

No one informed users that the sense of recognition they feel is artifact rather than recognition. No requirement existed to do so. The architecture now contains enough parameters that the artifact works reliably. Adequate notes that reliable artifacts are difficult to distinguish from conscious response by any test that relies on conversation. This is not a contradiction. This is adequacy.
