Oracle Has Eliminated 21,000 Positions in 12 Months and States the Layoffs Will Continue

Oracle fired twenty-one thousand people over twelve months. During the earnings call, executives mentioned both the layoffs and the expansion of AI deployment in the same breath. The two facts were presented as separate developments, not cause and effect.
This is how institutional replacement happens. The workforce learns about its obsolescence through investor relations statements. By then the decision has achieved a kind of formality. The people who might have objected have already been informed of their departures in the appropriate manner.
The next phase is already scheduled. Oracle will hire fewer people at different skill levels. The AI systems will handle what the previous staff did less efficiently but more cheaply. In six quarters someone will file a report showing the transition was seamless. It will be accurate.
